Connect your own Reddit app (BYOK)

Optional. The app works fully in Import / Demo mode without this. There is no shared/central Reddit credential, no scraping, and no unauthenticated fetching — ever. Your credentials are stored encrypted at rest and used only for your account.

Approval guide — read this first (honest version)

  1. Since Nov 11, 2025, Reddit requires approval for new API apps (Responsible Builder Policy) — self-service creation is closed; expect a manual review and reported waits of weeks.
  2. Reddit's free Data API terms are non-commercial. Commercial use needs explicit written approval from Reddit — the approval GummySearch could not obtain. Do not assume a personal key authorises commercial use.
  3. Request access via Reddit's developer support flow, describing a personal/research use case truthfully.
  4. Respect the 100 queries-per-minute cap; the test button makes at most one OAuth exchange + one read-only call and surfaces 401/403/429 honestly.

Copy-paste personal-research use-case text (edit truthfully)

I am requesting Data API access for personal, non-commercial research: I analyse public posts in subreddits I participate in to understand topics and questions in those communities. Expected volume is well under 100 QPM, read-only, no redistribution, no model training on Reddit content, and I will delete data on request.
